Katie Counseling in the Garden

A little about me

I moved to Portland 9 years ago and have grown to love every part of this city. I love exploring the beautiful streets of downtown Portland, the great outdoors that surround us, and the many pockets of fantastic local businesses. Like any true Portlander, I love brunch, live music, mustaches, rescue dogs, and gluten-free pastries. When I am not roaming around Portland, you’ll likely find me testing out recipes in the kitchen, catching up on my favorite shows with my husband, or planning my next travel adventure.

I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling with Distinction and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology with a Minor in Psychology from Multnomah University in Portland, OR. I have been working with families and individuals in the mental health field for 4 years in various settings including residential treatment centers, community-based services, outpatient and school settings. I have experience with clients and families from a variety of cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.

What I do

I believe individuals have the abilities needed to create positive and healthy lives for themselves. I also believe that you are an expert in your own life and are capable of creating appropriate goals for therapy. Knowing that each individual and couple is unique, I will shape and adjust my approach toward therapy upon your perspective(s).
